Dapuka Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by Zhao Xijin in 1985. The naming locality is situated at the Dapuka Village east of the Dayi District, Changdu County, Tibet. The naming section for the formation is divisable into two parts: the lower part of the section located on the Zaqu River to the Dapuka Village on the Damala Mts, Dayi District, with no top part having been found; and the upper part of the section located in the Kenzhuoga area extending to the Mucuoyao River of the Xiangdui District, Caya County.

Lithology and Thickness
Lower part is composed mainly of purple and dark-purple mudstone, sandy mudstone and purple, yellow-green and grey-green sandstone, intercalated locally with conglomerate, with its basal part consisting of conglomerate, with a thickness of 1187 m. Upper part is 526 m thick and it is composed largely of alternating layers of dark-purple argillaceous siltstone and purple fine-grained sandstone, intercalated with a small amount of grey-green silty shale, with its top serving as a 26 m thick layer of dark-grey and yellow-grey thick-bedded limestone.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its basal part is in a disconformable contact with the underlying Dayer Fm
Upper contact
Its top part is in a disconformable contact with the overlying Kenzuoga Fm
Regional extent
The formation is distributed in the Chando, Chaya, and Leiniaoqi area of eastern Tibet.

Its lower part yields Dinosaur fossils, such as Ngexiasaurus changduensis, Magalosaurus changduensis and Microdontosaurus dayensis.
